Law students preparing to take the Bar exam online may encounter a significant problem: Examplify, one of the most popular test-taking software programs nationwide, is incompatible with Intel’s most recent processor generation.
ExamSoft, the firm that owns Examplify, informs consumers in a notice that its software is incompatible with 12th Gen Intel processors. Examplify’s notification states that “new Windows devices with the Intel 12th generation chipset are initiating the automatic virtual machine inspection.” “These are NOT supported at this time.
Laptops with an Intel 12 Gen processor are presently not supported, according to Examplify’s minimum system requirements website. It’s unclear when the information was posted, but even if it did months ago, it wouldn’t have been much of a caution.
The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE), the group that creates the actual Bar exam, stated that it is aware of the problem but that it is mostly up to the various jurisdictions that conduct the exam to resolve it. According to Valerie Hickman, a spokeswoman for the NCBE, each state is in charge of selecting the exam software.
